Charlotte coach Biff Poggi has been fired after going 6-16 in two seasons. Charlotte lost 59-24 to South Florida on Saturday, its fourth loss by 30 or more points this season.

Charlotte fired football coach Biff Poggi on Monday. Tight ends coach/associate head coach Tim Brewster will be the interim coach for the final two games, and the school will immediately begin its search for a replacement.

Poggi was in his second season leading the team. He went 3-9 in 2023 and was off to a 3-6 start this season after battling a myriad of injuries early in the year. He took over the Charlotte program after serving on Jim Harbaugh's support staff at Michigan.

After blowout loss on homecoming, Charlotte football head coach Biff Poggi shouldered all of the blame: “I’d say my grade has been not good,” he said.

Poggi compiled a 6-16 record during his tenure in Charlotte. The 49ers finished 2023 with a 3-9 record and are currently 3-7 with games against FAU and UAB remaining. Former SEC assistant Tim Brewster will serve as the interim HC.
