A 49-year-old Bradenton man who was critically injured during a September hit-and-run died from his injuries, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Troopers said the man was “possibly laying down” on the travel lane of the 5100 block of U.S. Highway 41 when an “unknown vehicle” traveling north hit the man and left the scene.

Among the seven deaths in Florida attributed to Hurricane Helene, one occurred when a massive highway exit sign fell and landed on a vehicle with four people inside, according to state investigators.
