One person is dead after a gunman hijacked a Los Angeles city bus overnight, leading police in a pursuit for more than an hour before the suspect was taken into custody.

Anthony Rivera died from gunshot wounds after he, another passenger and a bus driver were held hostage by Lamont Campbell, 51, during a chase, police said.
