Earlier this week, repair site iFixit took apart the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus to demonstrate the new battery removal process that
iFixit: iPhone 16 Is the 'Most Repairable' Apple Smartphone in Years
Repairability scores for the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max saw a sizable bump over ratings from the prior year—they scored a seven out of 10 whereas last year's models scored a four, making the iPhone 16 series "the most repairable iPhone in years."

Repair site praises new iPhone 16 line as the most repairable yet
The traditional teardown by repair site iFixit has given the iPhone 16 lineup the highest repairability score of any previous iPhone, thanks to three key changes in the design and internals that make it easier to access components.
iPhone 16 teardown reveals what Apple packed into the device
But there’s a trade-off. In a subtle but notable omission, iFixit pointed out that the iPhone 16 lacks a millimeter-wave antenna, sacrificed to make space for the new Camera Control button. While it’s unlikely to be a dealbreaker, you might experience the occasional hiccup in your Wi-Fi connectivity.

First Teardowns Reveal the iPhone 16 Is More Repairable Than Ever
The iPhone 16 Pro models gain the “enter through either the front or the back” design introduced in the standard iPhone 14 lineup two years ago. This means you no longer have to remove the expensive and fragile OLED display — and risk damaging it — just to get at unrelated components like the battery.

Only the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have the new adhesive, and they’ve earned a 7/10 on iFixit’s repairability scale. “Apple definitely seems to be leveling up on repairability,” Mokhtari, adding Apple has “landed another repairability win” with this year’s base iPhones thanks to the new battery removal procedure.

But the battery is the real star of the show. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus use a new electrically-releasing battery adhesive that improves the ease and safety of battery replacements. Simply apply a 9-volt charge to the battery, and it can be removed within a few seconds. (Unfortunately, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max do not use Apple's new adhesive.)
iPhone 16 Scores Higher on Repairability Than iPhone 15
Tech reviewers may not consider the iPhone 16 lineup Apple's most drastically improved iPhone series, but it's evidently making strides in repairability (as the company had pledged). Repair website iFixit praised the iPhone 16 series in a blog post published Sunday for making "three big leaps for repairkind,
