Johnny Cash has become the first musician to be honored with a statue in the U.S. Capitol, joining presidents such as Ronald Reagan and George Washington and civil rights figures such as Rosa Parks.

Johnny Cash is still making history. A statue of the late country singer-songwriter was unveiled Tuesday inside the US Capitol, marking the first time a musician has received such an honor.

The halls of the U.S. Capitol are no stranger to legends of American history. Statues of influential figures line various halls and the Capitol Visitor Center to honor those who have embodied the American spirit. Earlier this year, the Arkansas Delegation unveiled its first statue in a century.
