Tropical Depression Sara has weakened and is no longer a threat to develop into a tropical storm, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). Satellite imagery and surface observations confirm that Sara has degenerated into a trough of low pressure over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico.

As of the 4 p.m. advisory, Sara was a weakening tropical depression straddling the area between Mexico and Guatemala, according to the National Hurricane Center. The system is expected to move into the Gulf of Mexico in the next day but will dissipate at that point.
