An F4U-4 Corsair, a fighter-bomber which mainly flew in World War II and the Korean War, is in San Diego on a long-term loan from the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Fla. The 78-year-old aircraft was lifted onto the USS Midway on Wednesday and officially became viewable to the public on Friday.

Another Corsair is making headlines, as the USS Midway Museum in San Diego has welcomed a newly restored F4U-4 Corsair (BuNo 97349) to its collection. This follows the recent addition of FG-1D Corsair (BuNo 92013) to New York’s Intrepid Sea,

The USS Midway Museum on Friday opened a new exhibit featuring a famous historical military aircraft, an F4U-4 Corsair.

The Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Fla., transferred the Corsair to San Diego for long-term display. It has been placed in the Midway’s hangar deck, at a spot across San Diego Bay from where Navy aircraft carriers used to stock F4Us.
