Sony Group Corporation is in talks to acquire fellow Japanese conglomerate Kadokawa, according to media reports that emerged this week. The firm's animation and games properties may underlie the possible M&A activity.

Sony may be poised to have another major weapon in its arsenal. Reuters (and now Nikkei) is reporting that Sony is in talks to acquire Kadokawa, the parent company of FromSoftware which is the developer of games like Elden Ring and Dark Souls.

Reuters reports that Sony is in talks to buy Japanese media company Kadokawa, which is the majority owner of Elden Ring developer FromSoftware and also has significant holdings in the anime and manga industries.
