Residents east of Atlanta received new warnings to seek shelter as winds could blow a lingering chemical cloud over their areas.

More than 90,000 residents in a county east of Atlanta were told to keep sheltering in place Monday and businesses were told to stay closed a day after a chemical plant fire sent a massive plume

A chemical plant fire southeast of Atlanta is still causing trouble two days later. Authorities on Tuesday alerted residents of the city's eastern suburbs to shelter in place again if a chemical cloud moves over their neighborhood.

Atlanta’s fire department said it was testing for the presence of chemicals including chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, and carbon monoxide. Residents east of Atlanta were again warned Tuesday to take shelter where they are if shifting winds push the still-billowing chemical cloud from a chlorine factory fire over their neighborhood.
