Asheville residents were told Monday that the water is safe to drink again nearly two months after Hurricane Helene caused flooding and damaged the water system.

The notice was lifted after the city’s water department tested 120 samples over the weekend. Turbidity is under 15 and the city expects it to remain low enough to process and meet demand.

In the Herrstein/Rhaunen community, Niederwörresbach has been under the boil water notice since Thursday. Several more areas were added Sunday: Herborn, Veitsrodt, Oberwörresbach, Vollmersbach, Mörschied, Herrstein, Niederhosenbach, Oberhosenbach, Breitenthal, Hettenrodt, Mackenrodt, Kirschweiler and Weiden.
