The row over animal fat (allegedly) in ghee used to make the Tirupati laddoos has been ramped up after Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan targeted state rivals YSR Congress and the DMK's Udhayanidhi Stalin.

A day after Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan referenced Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin’s controversial remarks on Sanatana Dharma, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) issued a clarification through its spokesperson,

Pawan Kalyan, in response to allegations of adulterated ghee in religious offerings, criticized the YSR Congress for mismanagement and defended 'sanatan dharma.' The DMK party countered, accusing Kalyan and allies of using religion for political gain.

The DMK has hit back at Andhra Pradesh deputy CM Pawan Kalyan over his criticism of Udhayanidhi Stalin, saying he is using religion and Hindu gods for political gains. DMK spokesperson Dr Syed Hafeezullah’s remarks came a day after Kalyan attacked Stalin over the latter’s comment on Sanatan Dharma that triggered a massive row before the Lok Sabha elections.

Amid the Tirupati Prasadam controversy, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has called for the enactment of a strong national act to protect Sanatana Dharma and prevent actions that harm its beliefs.
