In a relief for Jaggi Vasudev's Isha Foundation, the Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Tamil Nadu police to not act further in pursuance of the Madras high court order asking it to probe alleged illegal confinement of two women at its ashram.

The Tamil Nadu police had raided the foundation in Coimbatore on Tuesday after the Madras High Court sought details of the criminal cases filed against it.

The order was passed after Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi mentioned the matter before the bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.

The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the directions issued by the Madras High Court directing a probe into Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev’s Isha Foundation. Isha Foundation moved the top court challenging the HC that sought a report from the Tamil Nadu government on all criminal cases registered against Sadhguru and the foundation.

The action came after a petitioner told the court that his two daughters were being held captive at the yoga centre in the foundation.

The probe was initiated in response to a plea filed by a retired professor, who claimed his two daughters were being held against their will at the Isha Yoga centre.

The HC bench while hearing a habeas corpus petition filed by S Kamaraj, a retired professor from Coimbatore, had directed the Tamil Nadu government to submit particulars on all the criminal cases registered against the spiritual guru Jaggi Vasudev's Isha Foundation.
