Maharashtra will go to the polls tomorrow in a fierce electoral contest that has major implications for the future of political players in the state with keen contests on the cards across all regions of the vast state that has 288 assembly seats.

The Central Railway will provide special suburban train services for election officials and voters in Maharashtra on November 19-20 and 20-21, 2024.

A senior teacher from a school in Kurla, who will work at a polling station on Wednesday, said, “We will not be free until midnight on Wednesday."

The Election Commission will also conduct by-polls in 15 assembly seats across Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Kerala, and Uttarakhand.

Maharashtra gears up for a one-day assembly election with all 288 seats in contention. Public transport will operate normally, while schools and government offices will be closed. Financial institutions and liquor shops will also remain shut on election day.

The campaign saw several prominent national leaders, including PM Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, traveling across the state to rally support for their candidates.

In the run up to the polls, some of the opinion polls predicted that the ruling Mahayuti of BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP is expected to retain the mandate in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra goes to polls on November 20, with voters across 288 constituencies participating in a single-phase election for the state Assembly. On the same day, the second phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections will also take place.

Maharashtra is set to hold its assembly elections in a single-phase vote on Wednesday, November 20, with a high-stakes battle between the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
